Iceland Field Guide - August 2026

For Hugh, Susan, Lori, and Ron

Driving notes: 2WD Dacia is fine for this route if you stay on official roads and avoid rough or closed roads. Check SafeTravel and Umferdin.is before long driving days. Use Parka or posted machines/signage for paid parking. Never stop in the road for photographs; use safe pullouts.

How to use this guide: Each day has a suggested order, priorities, timing, skip-if-rushed advice, food ideas, photo notes, and parking/logistics notes. Iceland weather changes fast, so treat this as a field checklist rather than a rigid schedule.
